The first startup entrepreneurship event on "Designing and Producing Learning Technologies with focus on Waste Management Training"
The first startup entrepreneurship event on "Designing and Producing Learning Technologies with focus on Waste Management Training" was held on 26 and 27 August 2019, by UNESCO Chair on Environmental Education and in cooperation with the Waste Management Organization of Tehran Municipality, science and technology parks and university incubators. The purpose of the event was to familiarize the participants with designing and producing standard educational media and organizing the preparation and purchase of incentive items by the Waste Management Organization of Tehran Municipality. The educational themes were as follows: • Reducing waste generation • Source Separation of waste The audience of this event included startups, knowledge-based companies, entrepreneurs and manufacturers. This event was held in 2 stages (the first stage was held on 24 July in the form of Demo Day by the participants, the second stage was held on 26 and 27 August in the form of startup event for introducing the products). The event began with the presence of 75 participants in the form of 18 teams at 9:30 AM in the meeting hall of the specialized training center and the permanent exhibition of the waste management. The event began with a workshop on waste management and then some groups were formed. At first, groups privately explained their ideas to the referees and each team explained its ideas for 20 minutes, and the initial evaluation lasted about 6 hours. Meanwhile, the mentors, together with the participants in the main workshop, provided the necessary guidance and training. Due to the product-oriented nature of this entrepreneurship event, once all the participants were informed, the groups started designing and 3 groups that had not proposed ideas related to environmental education were eliminated from the evaluation panel. On the second day, the event began at 7:00 AM and groups presented their ideas and products, and the evaluation process was held in public assembly hall with the presence of all the present participants. Once the presentations were given by the participating groups, referees consulted and finalized their views and then 5 designs and products were selected as the best designs.
