Workshop on Plasma Technology for Disposal of Special Industrial Wastes

The workshop was held with the scientific support of UNESCO Chair on Environmental Education on 6 December 2018, on the sidelines of the first International Exhibition on Waste Management, Recycling, and the Related Machinery and Equipment, held at Shahre-Aftab International Exhibition Center in Tehran. A faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University instructed the workshop and participants were familiarized with plasma technology and its benefits for disposal of special industrial wastes. The main advantages of plasma technology for waste treatment are:

• Plasma technology is a green and clean method for disposing of hazardous waste
• Processing of organic waste into combustible synthesis gas for electric power and thermal energy that
• Plasma technology is the most optimal way to eliminate waste and generate electricity
• It is a safe means to destroy all kinds of wastes
• By applying European standards, plasma technology could be used to destroy wastes containing water, refractory materials or hazardous wastes which generate gaseous pollutants when they are destroyed in usual combustion processes
• The materials produced during the waste disposing process are useful
